About Us

Dream Home Care, Inc. (DHC) is a non-profit 501(c) that has been fostering adolescent male youth for almost 30 years.  The organization was founded by our Executive Director, Cora Manalang, and her late husband Abel Manalang. After immigrating into the United States and working for a local hospital, Cora and Abel had two boys of their own. Their passion was truly in the heart of providing a safe home for foster youth and that’s when the mission began.

Dream Home Care, Inc. has three facilities, two in Carson and one in Torrance which are now governed by the Board of Directors, who oversee the overall development of the organization. Today, DHC operates a Short-term Therapeutic Residential Treatment Program (STRTP), obtains a yearly mental health contract with the Department of Mental Health, and an accreditation from CARF. Our mission is to provide safe housing, stabilize youth to move them to a lower level of care, build their life skills, and seek to reunify youth with family or transition them into independent living.

Our youth are admitted into our care with the court's approval and oversight from the Department of Child and Family Services. They range in age from 12-18 years old with varying diagnosis; commonly PTSD, depression, and substance abuse. Our residential and clinical team provides various services to help youth reach their program goals i.e. obtain an education, healthy physical and artistic therapeutic activities, and engage in therapy services. All staff follow both the Shared Core Practice Model and trauma-informed approach of quality of care to all youth we serve.
